We are very proud to be celebrating our 25th year in business and would like to share some trivia concerning the Company:
Keystone Quick Facts
Keystone was started on Monday, August 4th, 1997, by 4 partners, David McHenry, Paul Lacon, J. Panetti and Phil Schwartz. Paul, J. and Phil are still actively working at Keystone.
The four partners had worked together at BCM Engineers in Plymouth Meeting, PA, but decided to leave together to form Keystone to provide electrical, instrumentation, controls and SCADA services (since expanded to include HVAC, Plumbing and Design-Build).
The name Keystone Engineering Group was a result of a brainstorming session at a bar, during which Paul suggested the name because it resulted in the acronym KEG.
Our first “office” was in Phil’s house just outside of West Chester, but after a few months, we moved to an actual office on Darlington Street in downtown West Chester.
Our first employee was Tom Bender in 1998. (Tom was also the 1st employee to retire from Keystone). Before agreeing to work for us, Tom asked that the fridge always be stocked with beer, a request we honored for many years.
We moved from West Chester to an office on Swedesford Road in Exton in 2003, and then moved to our current location on Lancaster Ave. in Frazer (or is it Malvern, nobody actually knows) in 2008.
We opened our 2nd office in Hamilton NJ in late 2015 and our 3rd office in Lewes, DE in mid 2018.
In 2017 Keystone named 5 Associates: Bill Bleiler, Jeremy Cherelli, Heather Heltzinger, Mike Papciak and Mike Wade. Bill and Mike Wade were promoted to partner in 2021.
We opened our 4th office in 2020 In Clarks Summit, PA, so we now have 4 offices and 64 people (as of January 19,2022).
